The Hospitals of Providence to begin construction on Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Transmountain Campus

Aug 12, 2019

The new addition of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit represents a $4 million investment in newborn healthcare in West El Paso

EL PASO, Texas — The Hospitals of Providence continues to grow and expand with the healthcare needs of the community of El Paso. In July, The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus will begin construction on a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. With the growth of Northwest El Paso, The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus, which opened in 2017, continues to expand its services, capabilities and staff to better serve the El Paso and Southern New Mexico communities.

The new six-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will begin construction in July of 2019 with an anticipated opening of Spring 2020. NICUs combine advanced technology and highly trained healthcare professionals to provide specialized care for newborn infants born with an illness or prematurely.

“We are excited to be expanding services and look forward to providing a higher level of care for our tiniest patients,” said Tasha Hopper, Chief Executive Officer for The Hospitals of Providence Transmountain Campus. “It’s important to us that families have the care they need close to home and have specialists here to take care of their babies.”

The new addition of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit represents a $4 million investment in newborn healthcare and will join The Hospitals of Providence’s network of newborn care across El Paso, which includes the only Level IV and Perinatal Certified NICU in the region at Memorial Campus and a Level III and Perinatal Certified NICU at East Campus.
