“When a stroke occurs, where you go and how fast you get there is critical to survival and recovery,” said Dr. Gustavo Rodriguez, Professor and Vice Chair in the department of Neurology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, specializing in vascular neurology and interventional neurology and current Medical Director for The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus Comprehensive Stroke Center. “Level 1 Stroke Centers offer patients a comprehensive stroke team and advanced treatments all in one location to improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of long-term disability. It is so important for our community to know and recognize the signs of a stroke and seek medical attention immediately.”
Every 40 seconds someone in the United States has a stroke, and every 4 minutes someone dies of a stroke, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes.

Anderson, Chief Executive Officer for The Hospitals of Providence Sierra Campus. “Our team remains committed to providing stroke patients advanced treatment and care to give them the greatest chance of recovery.”
The Sierra Campus offers an extensive program to provide and care for stroke patients through the entire treatment plan.
