Spirit Halloween Provides $200k Check To Providence Children’s Hospital Child Life Program

Funds aim to help make hospital stays a little less scary for kids

EL PASO, Texas — Spirit Halloween made their annual visit to Providence Children’s Hospital to present a check for close to $200k to benefit the Child Life program. Since 2009, Spirit Halloween has donated $978,000 to the Child Life program at Providence Children’s Hospital.

Over the last 15 years, Spirit Halloween through the Spirit of Children program has been raising funds for the Providence Children’s Hospital Child Life program in an effort to provide funding for art, music, therapy programs and activities that aim to make hospital stays more entertaining and fun for children and their families. The funds generated from 2022 sales make hospital stays easier for young patients and their families through non-medical treatment and healing play and 100% of local donations stay within the El Paso community.

Annually, Spirit Halloween hosts a Halloween celebration at Providence Children’s Hospital, bringing costumes, games, activities and fun for all patients experiencing a stay and who might otherwise miss out on the Halloween celebration.

Anderson, Chief Executive Officer for The Hospitals of Providence Memorial Campus and Providence Children’s Hospital. “We see firsthand the impact these funds help make in the lives of our patients and their families and it truly brings so much happiness – we appreciate their partnership and the difference they make in our hospital and our community.”

At the heart of Spirit Halloween is Spirit of Children, a program which focuses on making hospitals less scary for kids and their families. Since its creation in 2007 Spirit of Children has raised more than $110 million for the Child Life department at hospitals across the United States and Canada. Donations to Spirit of Children stay within local communities, with 100 percent of funds going to Child Life Services. For the 2023 Halloween season, Spirit of Children will be supporting more than 150 hospitals across North America.
