The Hospitals of Providence East Campus to Pursue Trauma Level 2
Oct 20, 2022EL PASO, Texas - The Hospitals of Providence East Campus announced effective November 15, 2022, it will be in active pursuit of Trauma Level II designation to ensure critically injured patients have the access to the specialized care they need in East El Paso.
With this announcement, East Campus will be bringing together a number of resources that benefit trauma patients, including in-house trauma/critical care surgeons available 24/7, 24/7 operating room team including anesthesia, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and oral & maxillofacial surgery, orthopedics and so much more.
“A Level II Trauma Center is able to initiate definitive care for all critically injured patients, whether it be a severe car accident, gunshot wound or brain injury,” said Dr. Andrew Shay, Trauma Surgeon and Trauma Medical Director for The Hospitals of Providence East Campus. “With a trauma injury seconds count for that patient to initiate lifesaving care to help prevent death or disability – this is such a needed service for this area and our team is committed to achieving this designation.”
The Hospitals of Providence East Campus opened its doors in 2008 to care for patients of East El Paso. Now residing amongst one of the fastest growing and densely populated zip codes in the country, East Campus has invested over $235 million dollars to expand services and capacity to care and meet the needs of the rapidly growing area.
