About Akram Mahmoud
Dr. Akram Mahmoud brings over 33 years of extensive neurosurgery experience to Providence Neurosciences Center. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Osteopathic Board of Surgery. Previously, Dr. Mahmoud played a key role in reestablishing Frye Regional Medical Center’s neurosurgery program, performing the facility’s first neuro procedures in over a decade. Dr. Mahmoud treats conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral hemorrhages, intracranial injuries, spinal cord injuries, and degenerative spine disorders, as well as brain tumors and brain cancer. He is particularly interested in minimally invasive brain and spine surgery, utilizing The Hospitals of Providence’s advanced surgical navigation systems, including the Stealth 8.

Receptionists very nice and courteous. Doctor was very approachable, professional, understanding, and knowledgeable. He totally understood the gravity of my Mom's fractures and acted accordingly. Being Mom an 84 year old person, with Osteoporosis, and several other health issues it was extremely important to accelerate the process of her surgery so that her organs, skin and general health wouldn't deteriorate more than it had in the past 2 months. The Surgery was successful thanks to the expertise and professionalism of Doctor Mahmoud before, during and after the surgery at the hospital and his continuous interest In visiting and checking with Hospital medical staff to make sure Mom was receiving the appropriate Medical care. He was also very concerned with her going to the best place available for her rehabilitation.

During the first visit to Dr. Mahmoud's office, He couldn't be there because He had a Surgery, but his Assistant was there. We were referred to him by the Pain Management Dr. (Dr. Jeffrey Annabi), due to the severity of My Mom's case (being an older female, suffering Osteoporosis, essential tremors, and other health issues). He thought it was necessary to accelerate the process for the surgery. Dr. Mahmoud's Assistant was friendly, but She explained the steps necessary to be completed in order to proceed with Surgery. The Medical professionals and family, we did did everything possible to accelerate the process and Mom was able to have her successful Surgery thanks to Dr. Mahmoud and is now finally at the rehabilitation Center.

No other doctor had ordered an exam like the MRI. They just took x-rays and told me they didn't know because it was the pain.
