Insufficient medical insurance coverage shouldn’t prevent you or a loved one from receiving needed medical care. That’s why at The Hospitals of Providence, we provide alternate funding and payment plan options so that more people can get the care they deserve.

Below are some of the financial assistance programs that are offered at The Hospitals of Providence. A hospital representative can be reached at (915) 877-8213 to help guide you through the process.

Medical Eligibility Program (MEP)

The Medical Eligibility Program is a hospital service provided to you at no cost. You may qualify for government programs that pay for all or part of your hospital and medical expenses. If you’re under 21 or over 65 years old, have children in the household, are pregnant, potentially disabled or have been a victim of crime, you may qualify. Should you need assistance, our hospital patient advocates can help you with the application process.

Government Programs

You may qualify for a government program to assist with health care coverage, including:

• Medicaid/Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
• Social Security Disability
• Supplemental Security Income
• County Indigent
• Victims of a Violent Crime Fund

Charity Care Program-Financial Assistance

If you don’t qualify for government programs, but don’t have the means to pay for your hospital expenses, you may be able to receive charity care. You may qualify for hospital financial assistance if your household income is below 200 percent of the federal poverty limit or if your annual out of pocket medical costs exceeded 10 percent of your household income in the past 12 months.

To be considered for this assistance program, you’ll be required to provide information on your household finances through a confidential financial application. Documentation will be requested to verify your circumstances in order to determine eligibility. Uninsured Discount Program

The Hospitals of Providence offers a compact with uninsured patients. Those without health insurance are offered discounted pricing along with reasonable payments and compact schedules.
